Chronic Illness Therapy
In Austin, Texas
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT)
with Taylin Ramirez
I’m a therapist with an autoimmune condition and use Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) in my own life, so this work is personal.
Are you grieving who you used to be before your diagnosis or symptoms?
Do you feel stuck between accepting your reality and fighting against it?
You may feel like your life has shrunk?
Maybe you don’t trust doctors anymore or feel exhausted explaining yourself.
This is not just physical. Chronic illness carries its own kind of trauma. It changes your relationship with your body and forces you to adapt.
Clients See Me When They’re:
Grieving old self
Stuck
In constant pain
Foggy
Angry or resentful
Increasingly isolated
Distrustful of doctors
Feeling their world shrink
It’s common to grieve the life you had before chronic illness or the version of yourself you used to be. That loss can feel heavy, especially while struggling to keep up with work, family, or a social life.
How My Chronic Illness Therapy Works
We start by not pretending everything is fine and not forcing acceptance before you are ready.
I help you understand how your brain and body are connected, especially when it comes to chronic pain and its symptoms. We focus on both the physical experience and the emotional impact, so you can move forward in a way that feels distinctly you.
Our work together is about rebuilding your sense of self, not just managing symptoms.
Modalities I Use
-
Uses neuroplasticity to change how the brain processes pain. Helps reduce the intensity and fear around symptoms.
-
Notices sensations in the body without panic to calm the nervous system and reduce reactivity.
-
Shifts how you see your story and identity to help you rebuild who you are now.
-
Expresses what is hard to put into words to support emotional processing and release.
Find The Next You
I help you grieve what you’ve lost while discovering
new ways to live fully and feel more grounded.

About Taylin Ramirez
I live with psoriatic arthritis and my own autoimmune condition.
I have gone through medical procedures that left both physical and emotional marks.
Chronic illness carries its own kind of trauma. It changes your relationship with your body. It forces you to adapt.
My therapy is designed for people navigating the identity shift that comes with chronic illness.
Sessions with me are casual and conversational. I sit cross-legged on the ground most of the time. You can swear if you need to. We will talk about hard things, but we will also find moments to laugh. I focus on building a real relationship with you, because that is where meaningful change happens.
Outside of therapy, I love camping, cooking without recipes, and playing board games like Mysterium. My 7-year-old schnoodle, who is a certified therapy dog, may make an appearance in sessions.
Availability: I work with individuals via telehealth across Texas.
